NEW YORK – J.F. Lehman & Company, a leading middle-market private equity firm focused on the defense, aerospace and maritime sectors, is pleased to announce the addition of three professionals to its New York office. David L. Rattner has been appointed to the newly created position of General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, while James J. Michaud and David L. Silberstein join the firm as Senior Analysts. Mr. Rattner will provide legal counsel across a broad spectrum of the firm's business and Messrs. Michaud and Silberstein will focus on supporting all aspects of transaction activity.
Mr. Rattner joined the firm on a full-time basis in November 2011 after serving as acting General Counsel since January 2011. Previously, Mr. Rattner served for nearly a decade as General Counsel at OAO Technology Solutions, Inc. (”OAOT”), a J.F. Lehman & Company portfolio investment that provided managed information technology solutions to global outsourcing organizations and mid-market customers. As a member of the four-person Office of the Chief Executive, Mr. Rattner was responsible for the company's strategic direction and policy as well as day-to-day management of all legal activities of the company. Prior to his tenure at OAOT, Mr. Rattner held various General Counsel and in-house legal positions at a number of companies ranging from start-ups to a Fortune 500 company. Mr. Rattner started his legal career in Washington, D.C. in the corporate, M&A and securities practice at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Mr. Rattner earned a B.A. from Georgetown University and a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law where he was a member of the Law Review.
Mr. Michaud joined J.F. Lehman & Company in July 2011 after five years at J.P. Morgan Securities, where he spent two years as an analyst in the Diversified Industries Group and three years as a member of the Syndicated & Leveraged Finance and Mid-Corporate Banking teams. Mr. Michaud earned a B.S. in Finance and Management from The Stern School of Business at New York University.
Mr. Silberstein joined the firm in September 2011 after working as an investment banking analyst and associate in the Aerospace & Defense Group at Lazard Freres. Previously, he worked for two years at Goldman Sachs in the Industrials Investment Banking Group and as a member of the firm's Investor Relations Team. Mr. Silberstein earned a B.A. in Political Science with an interdisciplinary concentration in International Economics from Yale University.
